About the initiative
Have you wanted to help the Ukrainian people but find it difficult to choose the right crowdfunding effort and non profit?
We have struggled as well and know that every day that passes makes the life of Ukrainian people more difficult. There is not enough food. Shelter is rare, homes are destroyed. Hundreds of thousands have left everything behind. Help is urgently needed.
We do not feel competent to tell you how you should give but we have listed recommendations proposed by Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez in an email to her followers. She lists four organizations that they have vetted. We hope that helps.
If you are planning to donate and have chosen how, let us know that you commit to sending money and we will send you either an original print or an art print.
We do not require proof of your contribution but ask that you agree to let us use your first name and town/State on social media. We ask that you specify which relief fund you have contributed to and hope that you will allow us to use your picture.

About the art
The artist, Erica Aitken, was creating this piece to honor a Belgian friend who just celebrated her 100th Birthday. She is undoubtedly distressed to witness yet another war and will understand how right it is to mark dismay and sorrow right on the piece. Defaced by War is a protest.
AOC recommends these relief organizations (Thank you)
